Biotech Chat: Project Management in Life Sciences

Are you a PhD student or postdoc in Life Sciences wondering what’s next after the bench — but not sure where to start? Join BSNL and PMI Switzerland for the next Biotech Chat: Project Management in Life Sciences, an informal yet inspiring evening designed to shine a light on one of the most impactful — and often overlooked — career paths in the industry.

Project management is far more than coordination and timelines. It sits at the very interface between scientific discovery and real-world impact — and for researchers, it can be a natural next step. Yet many PhD students and postdocs are only vaguely aware that it exists as a structured discipline and a distinct career path. This Biotech Chat is here to change that.

Three seasoned professionals will share their personal stories in concise 10 minute talks, followed by a panel discussion, a Q&A and a networking apéro

@Alice Pannérec — R&D Project Manager at Nestlé Research (Lausanne), Alice holds a PhD in Cellular Biology and has been PMP-certified since 2017. Having worked across academia, start-ups, and large industry, she now facilitates end-to-end R&D project execution at the interface of scientific innovation and business application.

@Gosia Matysek — Programme and governance professional with 13 years at the Global Fund for AIDS, TB and Malaria, where she managed multi-million-dollar health projects across Africa and Latin America. She now runs an independent governance consultancy focused on risk and compliance for global health and impact investment organisations — showing that rigorous project management skills transcend any single sector.

@Danijel Dojcinovic — Team Manager at Labcorp (Geneva) and UNIL alumnus, Danijel holds a PMP certification and brings a background in molecular biology to his work in clinical research project management.

Together, their diverse trajectories illustrate just how broad and versatile a project management career can be — whether your science background is in cell biology, clinical research, or an entirely different domain. You’ll leave the evening with a realistic view of the role, concrete ideas on how to get there, and an understanding of how PMI can support you along the way.
