Venture Capital in Health and Life Sciences

Two guest speakers will be joining:

  • Victor Bustos, PhD, Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Apollo Health Ventures: Victor is a scientist and entrepreneur with a deep understanding of Aging Biology and Biotechnology. Victor works as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Apollo Health Ventures, a venture capital firm that develops therapeutics targeting the fundamental hallmarks of aging. Before Apollo, Victor did his Postdoc and his PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Aging in Cologne. There, he was a recipient of the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds PhD Fellowship and is also an alumni of the M.Sc. Molecular Biology program in Göttingen.
  • Jordi Xiol, PhD, Senior Associate at Ysios Capital: Prior to joining Ysios in 2019, Jordi worked at Vida Ventures, in Boston, where he focused on opportunities in oncology, gene therapy and ophthalmology. Jordi has over 10 years’ experience in biomedical research: he did his PhD at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), where he studied fundamental aspects of non-coding RNA biology. As a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University, he worked on developing novel therapeutic strategies for colorectal cancer by studying signalling pathways in cancer stem cells. Jordi holds a bachelor´s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Barcelona and a PhD in molecular biology from EMBL.
